What to be grateful for this holiday season

By Chris Kamrani, Asst. Sports Editor

‘Tis the season to be jolly. ‘Tis the season to be thankful and grateful, too.

With the Fall Semester listlessly fading away, the Utah student body should be thanking its lucky stars for a near-immaculate first-half performance by the Utah Athletic department. With the break now one week away, I have compiled a list of things to be grateful for this holiday season. Finals Week is around the corner and students want nothing to do with school and everything to do with Santa, liquor or eggnog, family gatherings and ugly sweater parties. With school and festivities aside, this has been a memorable first half of athletic performances.

Be grateful for perfection.

Be grateful for Sugar.

Be grateful for Jim Boylen.

Be grateful for Lori Baird.

Be grateful for Lauren Hair’s ability to finish.

Be grateful for the recently-departed Utah golf course.

Be grateful for Morgan Warburton’s crossover.

Be grateful for Brian Johnson’s watch.

Be grateful for Paul Kruger’s vigor.

Be grateful for Carlon Brown’s SportsCenter Top 10 plays.

Be grateful for Kalee Whipple’s intensity.

Be grateful for Gary Andersen and his time at the U.

Be grateful for Kalani Sitake taking the reigns.

Be grateful for Kathryn Haynie’s right arm.

Be grateful for the legs of Alyssa Abbott.

Be grateful for Shaun Green from 28-feet out.

Be grateful for 2:06 left.

Be grateful for TCU’s funeral.

Be grateful for the eyes in the back of Luka Drca’s head.

Be grateful for Freddie Brown and his tenacious hands.

Be grateful for 12-0 having nothing to do with Urban.

Be grateful for the relentlessness of Beth Launiere.

Be grateful for tackling machines Mike Wright and Joe Dale.
Be grateful for talented, young defenders Lauren Porter and Morgan Skeen.

Be grateful for the gymnastics season that commences in three weeks.

Be grateful for the coaching staffs athletic director Chris Hill assembled.

Be grateful for 48-24.

Be grateful for the playful arrogance of Sean Smith.

Be grateful for sprightliness of Lawrence Borha.

Be grateful for the inner-Williams in Erin Monson and Anastasia Putilina.

Be grateful for the crazy lady.

Be grateful for the fact that she is now a regular at men’s basketball games.

Be grateful for BCS, not Poinsettia’s.

Be grateful for BCS, not Fort Worth, Texas.

Be grateful for BCS, not Emeralds.

Be grateful for Greg Newman’s emotion.

Be grateful for Morgan Warburton’s all-around game.

Be grateful for Boylen’s talented sixth-man, times two.

Be grateful for the “wildcat” formation.

Be grateful for the flash that is Corbin Louks.

Be grateful for the immovable wall, Emilie Toone.

Be grateful for Brian Johnson and his ability to perform on the “Late Show”.

Be grateful for the toughest home schedule in Huntsman Center history.

Be grateful for six Max Hall turnovers.

Be irate it should have been at least nine.

Be grateful for a true Utah man, Kyle Whittingham.

Be grateful for an unforgettable first half of fulfillment.
