LIFE president speaks on behalf of Unborn Child Pain Prevention

Editor:

I didn’t know what to expect at the Capitol, as I had never been to a Senate committee meeting before. Rep. Carl Wimmer, the sponsor of House Bill 222, the Unborn Child Pain Prevention Act, asked me to come out into the hall. He then asked me if I would like to say something on behalf of the LIFE Club in front of the whole committee. About 40 minutes later, I walked up to the stand, sat down, and addressed the committee.

I said, “Thank you chairman and members of the Senate Committee. My name is Samuel Passi. I am the president of the LIFE Club at the University of Utah. On behalf of the LIFE club, I would like to make a statement concerning H.B. 222. To deny an unborn child the right to life is unacceptable, but to deny an unborn child simple anesthesia or analgesics while unjustly taking its life is just coldhearted. The LIFE Club at the University of Utah supports this bill and hopes you will do the same. Thank you.”

A few minutes later, the bill passed. What an experience!

Samuel Passi,
U LIFE Club President
Junior, Biology and International Studies
