4 more Utes get chance to go to NFL

By Tony Pizza, Sports Editor

A day after four former Utes found new NFL homes via the 2009 draft, several of the offensive seniors from the Utes were added to NFL teams Monday.

Quarterback Brian Johnson, wideouts Brent Casteel and Bradon Godfrey, and kicker Louie Sakoda earned a chance to make it to the next level of football.

Johnson, the 2008 MWC offensive player of the year, was invited to try out with the Green Bay Packers on Monday as a could-be backup for Aaron Rodgers.

Casteel was invited to join the Cleveland Browns after a stellar senior season that was capped off by an impressive performance against Alabama’s defense in the Sugar Bowl.

Godfrey was added to the Buffalo Bills in what should be an interesting experience for the third member of Utah’s exciting receiver corps in 2008. Flamboyant receiving pro Terrelle Owens signed with the Bills in the offseason after being let go by the cowboys.

To round out the Utes who have been picked up by NFL teams via free agency, punter-kicker standout Louie Sakoda was given a pro opportunity with the San Diego Chargers.
