The Dalai Lama has rescheduled his visit to the U after canceling last October due to health issues. He will speak at the Huntsman Center on Tuesday, June 21.
Although he was faced with health issues late last year, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where the Dalai Lama received treatment, reported that he is currently in good health.
The Dalai Lama will speak on compassion and universal responsibility. Following the speech there will be a short Q&A session. Guests are encouraged to submit their questions online prior to the event. Questions that were proposed last October before the canceled appearance will be also considered for selection.
“The topic of his speech is very timely given recent events,” said Cheri Daily, the director of developmental and external relations for the Office of Global Engagement. “We should all be taking to heart his message of compassion and responsibility.”
A Tibetan cultural program will be presented by the Utah Tibetan Association the morning of the event at the Huntsman Center.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Utah Tibetan Association to benefit the Tibetan Community Center, a gathering place for celebrating and preserving Tibetan culture.
Tickets are still on sale at utahtickets.com/dalai-lama or the Rice Eccles Stadium ticket office. Tickets are $35 and a limited number of obstructed-view tickets are available for $30 per ticket. The obstructed-view seats may not have a view of the Dalai Lama but they will have a clear view of the jumbotron.
Anyone unable to secure tickets can stream the event live at utah.edu/live.
