Letter: Whittingham scars Wyoming

November 21, 2007
Editor: As a longtime Wyoming resident and lifelong Cowboy fan, I feel compelled to comment on the utterly shameful behavior of Utah's head football coach toward the University of Wyoming and the people of Wyoming. His smug, arrogant, unparalleled display of unsportsmanlike conduct has inflicted wounds and scars on the relationship between the two schools and states that will last for years.

BYU, Utah look for bragging rights wherever they can

By By Jon Gilbert November 21, 2007
A rivalry such as the one between BYU and Utah cannot be contained by white lines on a green field. Nor does it stay behind the doors of a basketball arena. The Holy War transcends religious boundaries, as well as state and international borders. The rivalry presents itself almost everywhere on the respective campuses of Utah and BYU.

Utah has its running backs, BYU has its gun-slinger

By By Jon Gilbert November 21, 2007
Utah and BYU like to live differently. BYU loyalists keep their faces clean-shaven and their shirts white. Utah fans elect democratic mayors. Enough said. So it shouldn't be a surprise that Utah and BYU have adopted different styles of football over the years.

Children’s health to be tracked

By By Parker Williams November 21, 2007
Within a year, researchers from the U will be knocking on doors with a goal of recruiting 2,200 pregnant women for a billion-dollar study. The National Children's Study, the largest children's study to ever take place in the United States, will be launched with the intent of understanding children's health better and improving children's health throughout the country.

Matheson: Congress politicizing Iraq

November 21, 2007
By overpoliticizing the debate about the war in Iraq, both Democrats and Republicans are making it difficult to find a solution to the conflict, Utah Congressman Jim Matheson said. Although President George Bush has threatened to veto any legislation setting a date to withdraw U.

Give thanks to turkeys

By By Joseph Bateman November 21, 2007
The tradition of Thanksgiving in North America started as a way to give thanks for the recent harvest. Things have changed in today's world. As Bill Maher joked in his HBO special, "We don't harvest s***." Unfortunately, Thanksgiving has morphed into a day filled with bloated bellies and endless consumption, complete with all the trimmings.

Utah needs the team down south

November 21, 2007
Face it, Utah fans: This week wouldn't be nearly as fun if BYU fans weren't the way they are. Think back to your childhood. How fun would it have been to pick on your brother or sister if he or she would have just sat there like a BYU freshman at his or her first school dance? It definitely would have been better when little Johnny or little Suzy fought back.

Utah vs. BYU: The Edge

By By Cody Brunner November 21, 2007
Quarterback Although shaky and error-prone at times, BYU quarterback Max Hall has done an admirable job in his sophomore year. His channeling of former Cougar greats has led the team to seven consecutive wins and has put him at the top of the Mountain West Conference in passing yards per game (312.

Horoscopes

By By Gabi November 20, 2007
Aries (March 21-April 19) This week, you're overly concerned with the things people are saying about you. Your obsession, however, is unfounded and leaves you looking like that guy in the propaganda film "Reefer Madness," who bludgeons his family with a copper kettle in a fit of paranoia.

Next chapter of Red v. Blue to be written

November 20, 2007
Thirteen seconds. That's how long it took to write the latest chapter of one of the greatest rivalries in college football. That chapter is three words long. Beck to Harline. For Utah, heartache. For BYU, rapture. On Nov. 25, 2006, BYU sat on the 12-yard line of Rice-Eccles Stadium with two seconds left.
