U secondary young and unproven

By By Mandeep Gill August 21, 2007
Speed and athleticism are characteristics that have to be present with every defensive back. For most of the U football team's secondary, potential and youth can be added to that list. Head coach Kyle Wittingham makes no mystery out of his opinion of his defensive backfield.

Activities: Bear Lake beach life

By By Jessica Dunn August 21, 2007
Most people use their big, suspension-lifted trucks to pull their even bigger boats. Bear Lake Valley residents are smarter than that. They pull their boats with tractors. While the tractors might not break the speed barrier, they can launch the boat from anywhere without worrying about getting stuck or flooded.

Letter: Unlike Fuller, clubs do good work

August 21, 2007
Editor: We wonder what purpose Tiara C. Fuller's opinion pieces serve, especially the one most recently published ("Clubs on campus are racist and devisive," Aug. 1). Men aren't always the best when it comes to opening up, expressing their feelings or discussing the hurdles in their lives. Jeff Metcalf, a professor in the English department, doesn't have a problem opening up about his experience with prostate cancer. Metcalf kept daily journals as he battled the disease from diagnosis to beating the cancer.

Homeless men arrested at U

By By Ana Breton August 21, 2007
Two men were arrested and booked into jail on separate occasions earlier this month after police officers found them sleeping on-campus after hours. This is the first time a homeless person has been arrested on-campus this year. Prior instances when police officers found homeless people on-campus late at night only involved citations for trespassing.

Developer gives back

By By Rochelle McConkie August 21, 2007
As a first-generation college student, Shontol Torres Burkhalter wasn't always sure she'd make it to the university level. Growing up in the Four Corners area of Utah and Colorado, Burkhalter said she was motivated to make it to college by her family, who came to the United States from Mexico.
