On Saturday, in the Montana State Invitational, DiGrazia earned her second gold-medal finish with a time of 17 minutes 21 seconds in the 3-mile race. That's two races, and two first-place finishes for the U senior this year who already won the Utah State Open on Aug. 29.

Utah's defense continued to shine this weekend, allowing only one goal in the team's past four games. That one goal came early Sunday afternoon in the eighth minute of Utah's matchup with California State Fullerton.

The Wyoming Cowgirls took advantage of the home court energy and handed the Utes its third-consecutive loss with a 3-0 sweep. It was just the second win of the season for Wyoming and it dropped Utah to 0-2 to start MWC play for the second-consecutive season.

Over the weekend, the Utah women's tennis team completed its first tournament of 2008 at the BYU Invitational, held in Provo.

A week after going 4-0 against the PAC-10, the Mountain West Conference got some more bragging rights Sunday. For the first time in the MWC's 10-year history, it has three teams in both the AP and Coaches Top 25 polls.

Utah has been shooting itself in the foot all season, and just about saw its perfect season and BCS dreams seriously hurt because of it.

The Utes couldn't have asked for a better start to the season. As quarterback Brian Johnson said after Utah's win over Utah State, "You have to go 3-0 to go 4-0. The only problem to Utah's start is the shortage the Utes are having on the defensive line."

The Utes will be preparing for a true, old-fashioned football game Saturday when they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to take on the 3-0 Air Force Academy Falcons.

The Air Force Falcons were not flying offensively in the fourth quarter against Houston last week, but defensively held on for a close victory, 31-28.

Defending the option in football is like trying to catch three robbers who don't mind getting caught, because they're going to get up 60 more times, pound the snot out of you and eventually get something out of it.
