The soccer team kicked off its 2009 campaign in an impressive fashion, winning its first two games against UVU andCal State Fullerton.

During the summer, most of the team has been practicing and preparing for the coming season. Although workouts are labeled as voluntary, the team went through six weeks of summer camps with the strength and conditioning coaches.

With the release of its 2009 schedule, the Utah women's soccer team is looking forward to the challenge that the 2009 schedule will provide.

Utah midfielder Kelly Isleib made headlines all season for her team8212;so much so that the United States Women's soccer federation took notice.

Although the team got off to a slow start, losing four of its first five matches, the Utes rallied together midway through the season to finish as No. 2 in both the Mountain West Conference Tournament as well as the MWC regular season.

The Utah soccer team's only two conference losses this season came at the hands of TCU and BYU.

After receiving a first round bye by finishing second in the Mountain West Conference this season, Utah advanced to the MWC Tournament championship game on Thursday by defeating the Horned Frogs for the first time this season.

It's no "Blackout," but the No. 2 seeded Utes are going to take on TCU with major implications on the line.

BYU and Utah won't be in action until Thursday, earning first-round byes as the top two seeds respectively.

With a win, the Utes would lock up second place in the Mountain West Conference as well as a first round bye in the upcoming conference tournament. With a loss, Utah would have opened the door for No. 3 TCU.
