LeaderShape conference looks to inspire future leaders

Students desiring to participate in the fourth annual LeaderShape conference sponsored by the nonprofit organization have until this Wednesday to turn in applications. Four years ago, former student-body president Jesse Dalton and a handful of other students attended a LeaderShape conference in Allerton, Ill.

Humanities College honors prof, student teacher

Each year, the College of Humanities presents one teacher and one graduate student teacher with the Ramona W. Cannon Award for teaching excellence in the humanities. This year's distinguished honors went to Janet Theiss and Brikena Ribaj. Theiss is a professor in the department of history and currently teaches two courses-one on Chinese and Asian History and another on comparative gender history.

Some young people have a tendency to think they'll live forever. With today's figures, they can count on an average lifespan of approximately 80 years, according to the U's Health Sciences Center. Although this existence is not forever, life expectancy has increased by 29.

Utes fail to score a run over the weekend against Tulane

The U baseball team fell to 1-8 on the season after dropping a three-game weekend set to the No. 7 Tulane Green Wave (8-1). The Utes were outmatched in the field and at the plate and were outscored 19-0 for the series. The lone bright spot for the Utes was sophomore hurler Jason Price, who went the distance in the first game, giving up only six hits and three unearned runs.

Editor: The recent debate on gay marriage has provoked a careful inquiry into the morality of homosexual acts and relationships. Professor Deen Chatterjee wrote a very interesting column on Feb. 17 ("Is there a link between homosexuality and immorality?") on this very issue, where he questioned the idea of sinfulness.
