Letter to the Editor: Spring ‘rush’ has always been informal among greeks

February 4, 2005
Editor: I am an active greek sorority member and I am offended by Nick Macey's article ("A greek house divided will not stand," Feb. 1). What could cause more division within the greek system than tearing down another chapter? Of course there are always rivals, and there always will be, but that's not a reason to completely demean another chapter.

The U women's basketball team (15-5, 4-1 MWC) has an opportunity to make things right Thursday at 7 p.m. when they meet the UNLV Rebels (11-8, 2-3 MWC) in the Huntsman Center. Last year, in the second-to-last game of the regular season, the Utes suffered a brutal overtime loss at home at the hands of the Rebels.

Letter to the Editor: Chrony promotes juvenile delinquency with freestyle bike photo

February 2, 2005
Editor: Once again The Chronicle has published a picture of teenagers defacing the landscape of the U campus ("The air up there," picture in Feb. 1). No wonder the young man didn't want to give his real name; he was breaking a law the U has instigated for its own safety as well as the legitimate students and staff of the university.

Following a conference tournament championship and an NCAA tournament berth in 2004, the Ute softball team will look to bolster the offense and ride the arms of a talented staff in 2005. Letter to the Editor: Sigma Chi is guilty only of success

February 2, 2005
Editor: I agree with Nick Macey ("A greek house divided will not stand" Feb. 1) that the U greeks are facing a crisis of membership and that students are missing out by simply going to class and then going home each day. I also have my own (not always so nice) thoughts about the "faux greek system" that called LDSSA.
