On Monday, the state Legislature began considering House Bill 123, which would restrict public health insurance funding of abortions. This bill endangers the health, liberties and well-being of every Utah woman. Going through the toughest part of its schedule, the U men's tennis team headed to California for matches against St. Mary's, No. 7 Stanford and California. After the first two, the Utes are 1-1, with a finale against Cal slated for today. For the season, the Utes stand at 4-5.

The U men's basketball team stepped up to the challenge and performed on its largest stage. In front of 15,148--the largest crowd to watch a U game the last two years--No. 23 Utah held on for a win over BYU on ESPN's Big Monday 71-64. Utah improved to 21-4, 9-1 in the MWC, while BYU fell to 18-7, 7-3.

Editor: While this argument may be a little outdated, I was reminded of our hosting of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games when I read Jim Bergstedt's Feb. 24 opinion column, "Sorry, But The Olympics Aren't Coming Back." While Bergstedt did not mention anything about what I have to say, his column brought back memories of something I had a problem with during the Olympics.
