Pats dream season: Won’t be undefeated

By By Chris Kamrani November 28, 2007
Robert Frost once wrote, "Nothing gold can stay." It just so happens that this verse applies to the 11-0 New England Patriots. Most football enthusiasts know there has only been one undefeated team since the Super Bowl era. The 1972 Dolphins went undefeated in the regular season -- which featured a 14-game season rather than the current 16-game format.

Runnin’ Utes to catfight Weber

November 28, 2007
When asked if it was good to have nine days between games after the Runnin' Utes lost to Santa Clara on Nov. 19, head coach Jim Boylen said matter-of-factly, "Not for those guys in the locker room." Gulp. Instead of using the Thanksgiving holiday as a break, Boylen and the Utes (2-2) practiced as much as they could within the constraints of the NCAA rules.

Philly future in the air

By By Jason Peterson November 28, 2007
Sometimes it's best to forget the mistakes of the past and focus on the future. The Utah Jazz will likely shudder at the memory of each turnover and each missed opportunity late in Monday's 113-109 loss at Madison Square Garden. The truth that might be hardest to swallow is that the New York Knicks just could have Utah's number.

Pats dream season: Keep the champagne bottles corked Shula

By By Cody Brunner November 28, 2007
Unbeatable is a scary word. Scary for opponents, scary for coaches and scary for the team to which that word refers. The Chicago Bulls teams of the early '90s were often donned with it. It had become a staple of the New York Yankees throughout their championship years.

Mouse leads to death threat

By By Ana Breton November 28, 2007
After a mechanical engineering student reportedly made a death threat against a peer, administrators in the department stepped in and placed both students in counseling. Kent Udell, chair of the department of mechanical engineering, intervened after he was tipped that a student wanted to fight to the death, he said.

Bush leaves soldiers behind

By By Joseph Bateman November 28, 2007
Imagine for a moment that you're a member of our armed forces: the Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Army or Coast Guard. You signed up to support your country, maybe to reap the benefits of the G.I. Bill or even the signing bonus. Perhaps you come from a long line of military veterans, and you want to continue the family tradition.

Online shopping gets competitive

By By Steve Coons November 28, 2007
Amazon recently advertised its Black Friday sale as an opportunity for the consumer to save energy. Christmas shopping, without ever leaving the house, has been a common marketing ploy for web-based entrepreneurial ventures for years, but only recently have the websites mimicked their big-box counterparts' distortion of reality so effectively as with the lightning deals that Amazon has implemented.

Letter: Save the Sunday School lessons for church

November 28, 2007
Editor: Before I begin this, I will state that I am an avid BYU fan. I read The Daily Utah Chronicle's rivalry guide. For the most part, I really enjoyed reading it -- except for the column by Miss Holier-than-Thou Lindsey Sine ("Do unto others," Nov. 22).

Letter: A Utah man am I

November 28, 2007
Editor: This football season started with extreme ups and downs, and then our team put together one of the best seven-game stretches in school history that included road wins at Louisville and TCU, and surprise home field blowouts against New Mexico and Wyoming.
