After two organized scrimmages, the Runnin' Utes have the looks of becoming an elite team in the Mountain West Conference.

It seems the Mountain West Conference wants to extend the idea of rivalries beyond team vs. team and make it more about conference vs. conference.

Consider the inaugural JimmyBall scrimmage a success. Head coach Jim Boylen praised the essentials that he wants his team to have this upcoming season: Play zealous defense. Get out of the box. And run, run, run.

The Utes are holding their inaugural JimmyBall Scrimmage tonight at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. Admission will be free to give fans a chance to check out the team before the season gets rolling.

Head coach Jim Boylen has set the bar high for his team, and now it's time to see if it can step up.

In conjunction with the Runnin' Utes' exciting home schedule this season, the Utes have come out with something fairly unfamiliar to fans--flexible ticket packages.

Although official practice hasn't started, and won't for a few weeks, the Runnin' Utes have done other things to prepare themselves for the upcoming season.

The Runnin' Utes solidified their roster at the forward position for 2009 by picking up two players last week.

One big thing about being a college athlete is giving back to the community. The Runnin' Utes did just that Saturday at the University Health Care Annual Kids' Health and Safety Fair.
