Mitchell breaks assist record

The U women's basketball team and point guard Leilani Mitchell enjoyed one of those days Saturday when Mitchell shattered the single-game assists record in a win over Fresno State. Monica Starrett set the Utah single-game assist record during the 1981-1982 season when she handed out 15 assists.

Utah accepts Bowl invitation to Poinsettia Bowl

Kyle Whittingham and his Utah football team have accepted an invitation to the 2007 Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego, Calif. "We could not be more excited to be playing in San Diego in mid-December," Whittingham said. The game will pit the Utes (8-4) against the Navy Midshipmen (8-4) and will be the kickoff to this year's bowl season.

Fighting for lower birth control costs

When birth control prices spiked earlier this year on campuses across the nation, Students for Choice was one of the few U groups to protest the change. The group encouraged students to call Jim Matheson, D-Utah, and urge him to support the Prevention Through Affordable Access Act, which would restore original discounts on contraceptives given to campuses.

Pats dream season: Won’t be undefeated

Robert Frost once wrote, "Nothing gold can stay." It just so happens that this verse applies to the 11-0 New England Patriots. Most football enthusiasts know there has only been one undefeated team since the Super Bowl era. The 1972 Dolphins went undefeated in the regular season -- which featured a 14-game season rather than the current 16-game format.
