Letter to the Editor: Domestic Violence Defies Easy

By By Christopher Condrat and By Christopher Condrat September 10, 2002
Editor: Casey Jacketta's column about domestic violence lays undue blame on the communities surrounding incidents of domestic violence. Just because a community is considered "close-knit" doesn't mean the individual members actually confide in one another with personal problems.

Sept. 11 Remembered:

By and September 10, 2002
U community members remember the Sept. 11 attacks, and reflect on what they have learned.

Letter to the Editor: Sept. 11 Tuition Date Is Not a Real Tragedy

By By Zac Allen and By Zac Allen September 9, 2002
Editor: Reading Craig Froehlich's Sept. 9 article, "Sept. 11: Tragedy and Tuition" gave me the courage to relate a similar outrage that I suffered recently. Upon receiving my September credit card bill, I was shocked and hurt to find that my bill was due on Sept.

Letter to the Editor: U Health Plan and Birth Control

By By Kelli C. Lund and By Kelli C. Lund September 9, 2002
Editor: The Students for Choice group sincerely appreciates coverage of our events by The Chronicle. Because our group prides itself on honesty and accuracy of information, it was frustrating to find numerous errors, exaggerations and blatantly incorrect facts in The Chronicle's recent article, "Students for Choice Plan Out Year" (Sept.

By By Jason Moore and By Jason Moore September 8, 2002

By Jason Moore Chris Yeates, my cousin also committed suicide. His death was not a matter of chance or the result of some random event, it was the calculated result of an orderly plan: his own. Nor...

Letter to the Editor: Reflections of a Sixth Year Senior

By By Brandon Mckay and By Brandon Mckay September 8, 2002
Editor: After six years of school and finally gaining the status of a senior, I feel it is my responsibility to educate entering freshmen about the next several years of their lives. The U is a unique place. If you are just coming from high school or the community college, you are in for a big surprise.

Letter to the Editor: Ad Sexualizes School-Age Girls

By By Josilyn Miller Mork and By Josilyn Miller Mork September 5, 2002
Editor: I don't mean to crash the party, but does The Chronicle really need the advertising dollars that badly? The ad for the SEKTOR7CARTEL.com party, EXPELLED, is beyond poor taste. It sexualizes schoolage girls by showing provocatively posed adult women dressed in school uniforms sized for 8-year-olds and the words "naughty boys and girls" in large print in a corner of the ad.

Letter to the Editor: Fighting For the School Song

Editor: I'm writing in response to Jared Whitley's column on Sept. 4, "I'd Like To Meet Our Lame Fight Song in a Muss." I have been in the marching band for the last four years. I cannot tell you how many times I have played that song. If played wrong it sounds like a polka! As a rookie I had to learn all four verses of the song.

Utes Lose Starting Center For 2-3 Weeks

By and September 3, 2002
When U center Dustin McQuivey went down with 4:04 in the second quarter of the U's win over Utah State, the team lost an experienced junior that had started since his freshman year. In came Max Petersen, a 6-foot-3, 286 lb. sophomore back-up, who filled in without a fumbled snap as the Utes reeled off 16 fourth quarter points.

Letter to the Editor: December Graduation Needed

By By Jennifer Turner and By Jennifer Turner September 3, 2002
Dear Editor: After many years of school and sacrifice, I am finally looking forward to graduating at the end of this semester. There is only one problem. Though it might be slight, it still is something that bothers me. The U does not have a graduation ceremony in December.
