Bragging rights

By By Natalie Dicou November 20, 2007
When it comes right down to it, the Utah-BYU football game is all about the bragging rights. Nothing else really matters. Occasionally, there is something else on the line, such as bowl eligibility or a battle for recruits. But the fans of both teams know that the right to brag surpasses everything else.

The Edge: Breaking down the rivalry

November 20, 2007
Whether it's a succulent strawberry shake from the Malte Shoppe or a pint from The Pie, the nightlife comparison between Provo and Salt Lake City is no contest. Although it's tremendously difficult to turn down flag football, night games, Monopoly or even knocking a few pins down at Fat Cats, the nightlife scene in Happy Valley cannot compare to the assortment of clubs, bars and sporting events that dominate the Salt Lake scene.

Security to be stringent

By By Eric Williams November 20, 2007
After driving only 45 minutes and playing in front of a crowd that's nearly 20 percent Utah fans, it's hard to call the Utes' biennial trip to Provo a real away game. Nonetheless, LaVell Edwards Stadium will feel a long way from home for the folks in red, both on the field and in the stands.

Throw records out the window

By By Cody Brunner November 20, 2007

By By Michael McFall November 20, 2007
The athletic conflict between the University of Utah and Brigham Young University didn't begin with football, although now the rivalry game is probably the most-hyped matchup between the two schools. "Our first game was baseball, which actually broke out into a fight," said Jeff Reynolds, BYU's sports information director for football.

He says, she says: threesomes are hot

By By Clayton Norlen and Alexandra Gregory November 20, 2007
Dear He says, She says: I've been seeing the same guy, "Dave," now for a whole semester, but I have the hots for his best friend "Casey." OK, so occasionally hooking up and having the most romantic nights of my life probably constitute more than just "having the hots" for Casey, but he doesn't even live in the same state.

Red Herring: Wildfire victims move to Oklahoma

By By Orion Archibald November 20, 2007
The fires which ravaged Southern and Central California last month have turned what used to be a vibrant and bustling cultural mecca into a charred wasteland, and the catastrophic effects are already beginning to make themselves felt well beyond the borders of the Golden State.

A holiday tradition at Abravanel Hall

By By Christie Franke November 20, 2007
When Handel's oratorio "Messiah" premiered in 1742, it was sung closer to Easter than it was to Christmas. This was the tradition during Handel's lifetime, but since then, it has changed to the Advent before Christmas. As such, the Utah Symphony and Chorus will be presenting it at Abravanel Hall on Nov.

Profiting off the Holy War

By By Jon Gilbert November 20, 2007
Who knew hatred could be such a financially sound habit? That's the case with the BYU-Utah football rivalry. The schools, stadium vendors and retail stores reap the benefits when passionate fans invest in supporting their team. And it all starts with ticket sales.
