Men's tennis hosted the Utah Invitational Thursday through Saturday at the Liberty Park Tennis Center, and women's tennis competed in the ITA Mountain Region Championships in Las Vegas from Wednesday to Sunday.

The women's tennis team had another strong tournament performance this weekend, as sophomores Missy Harris and Lexi Provancha snatched the titles in the flight-C and flight-F competitions, respectively.

The Utes finished their first match of the season at the BYU Invitational last week. Utah dominated day one of the competition, but with the exception of two athletes, had some trouble maintaining its success in day two.

The women's tennis team kicks off the start of its 2009 season today at the BYU Invitational in Provo. Play will continue through Saturday.

After falling short in 2009, the men's and women's tennis teams are looking to secure a part of the MWC Championship this year.

On Thursday, the No. 6 seeded Utes had what it took to upset the No. 3 seeded San Diego Aztecs, but Utah could not recapture the upset magic Friday when it fell to the No. 2 TCU Horned Frogs.

A day after getting five players named to the All-MWC team, the men's and women's tennis teams took the court to compete in the Mountain West Conference Tournament at Albuquerque, N.M.

This week's Mountain West Conference Championships could work marvels for a team that is on a six-game slide, including five straight losses to fellow MWC squads.

The No. 44 Utes swept all three matches against MWC foes this weekend, pitting them at 3-0 to start the season.

Both the men's and women's tennis teams are looking to get on the winning track this weekend as they prepare to take on two Western Athletic Conference teams.
