Round two of Mountain West Conference play starts Sunday afternoon for the Utes as they take on the Wyoming Cowgirls. Utah had its way last time against Wyoming, beating the inexperienced Cowgirls 70-52 in the conference opener. However, Wyoming has improved since the two last met and have won three of its past four games.

Undefeated in Mountain West Conference play and riding a 10-game winning streak, Utah's string of tough outings continues Wednesday when the Utes face off against the TCU Horned Frogs, 13-7 (5-2).

Utah's tough stretch of games continues Sunday as the women's basketball team travels to "The Pit" to take on the New Mexico Lobos in Albuquerque, N.M.

PROVO8212;Utah knew it wasn't going to be easy, but the women's basketball team was able to gut out its ninth straight victory at the hands of its biggest rival.

The women's basketball team (12-6, 5-0) will make the short trip to Provo to take on the Cougar team that many are labeling as the surprise team of the Mountain West Conference this year.

In what was another solid outing for the women's basketball team, the Utes topped UNLV 67-50 on Saturday, giving them their eighth win in a row.

When basketball season got under way, many figured that the Utes would resemble a finesse team. They had two of the most prolific scorers in the conference with Morgan Warburton and Kalee Whipple on the wings. Utah is still doing as well as expected this year. It started the conference slate at 4-0 and is on a seven-game winning streak.

Senior Morgan Warburton and junior Kalee Whipple were coming off 2007-2008 campaigns in which they averaged double figures in scoring and led the Utes to a 16-0 record in regular season conference play.

Utah got revenge for being ousted in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament last season by the Rams, who were winless in conference play, as it destroyed Colorado State 74-48 on Saturday afternoon.

Upsets aren't unheard of in college hoops, especially during the postseason. But for a team as good as the Utes were last year, to be upset by arguably the worst team in the conference, a team that had only won four games total, is mind-blowing.
