Union Programming Council chooses new executive director

The Union Programming Council named Tarina Freimann its new executive director Feb. 24. Freimann is already at work looking for six students to be next year's UPC directors. "We are looking for anyone that wants to get involved," Freimann said. "The varying positions provide growth and leaderships skills for students.

It's interesting how human it is for people to be jealous of others' success. When I saw letters in The Chronicle last month complaining about Sigma Chi's early jump on recruiting, it brought that point to my attention. In fact, not only are we jealous, but we often even tend to hope for the misfortune of others.

Researchers find oldest-ever modern humans

Modern humans' family tree just got older. New research by Frank Brown, U professor of geology and geophysics, and his colleagues has re-dated fossils of human skulls at 195,000 years old. In 1967, the Homo sapiens' skulls found in Kibish, Ethiopia were thought to be about 130,000 years old.

It’s Crispin Glover, so ‘What is it?’

"What Is It?" Written and Directed by Crispin Hellion Glover This coming week, the Salt Lake Film Society will be hosting special screenings of Crispin Hellion Glover's new film, "What Is It?" "What Is It?" is Glover's (best known as the father figure, George McFly, from "Back to the Future") directorial debut, and appears to be one of the most genre-elusive films to hit the independent scene in recent years.
