Skiers finish second at NCAAs

The U ski team failed in its attempt to win back-to-back championships at the NCAAs last week, but came close with a second-place finish, which left coach Kevin Sweeney content. "We are very ecstatic about finishing second," Sweeney said. "With everything that has happened to us over the season, we should have finished fourth or fifth, but we have continued to battle all season," he said.

Comedy Dinner aims to unite U diversity groups

The U has been recognized as School of the Year by the Intermountain Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls. The Intermountain Affiliate is one of eight regions within a larger, nationwide league-the National Association of College and University Residence Halls.

Cause becomes more costly for animal activist

The U responded last week with a $299 price tag to freshman Jeremy Beckham's request for primate experimentation details. Last August, Beckham, head of the Utah Primate Freedom Project, began asking for documents detailing the experiments currently conducted on the hundreds of macaques, baboons and marmosets at the U.

I've never wavered in my opinion that gay and lesbian couples deserve to live in state-sanctioned civil unions with all the perks of a nice, straight married union, and I won't divert from that.
