Hail from the Chief: How we plan to make value calls on what we print

December 6, 2005

In an editorial reflecting the majority view of The Chronicle's senior staff last week, we reported that our staff members occasionally make value calls that offend a portion of the campus community.I,...

Comeback ‘Cats: Utes split weekend set, bow to Arizona

December 5, 2005
The U volleyball team's stay in the NCAA tournament lasted one round longer than it did a year ago, but the Utes still fell shy of the Sweet 16. Playing host at Crimson Court for the first two rounds this weekend, the Utes opened up play with a first-round sweep of Loyola Marymount, but saw their season come to an end Saturday night in a hotly contested and well-played 3-1 loss to the Arizona Wildcats (30-28, 30-26, 26-30, 30-27).

Closure is not an open book

March 9, 2005
Dear Danni, I recently broke up with my boyfriend of nine months. It was sorta a mutual decision. We talked forever about it, but afterward, I still felt like I had stuff to say. I still do. He hates when I harp on old stuff, or things I've already said, and he doesn't seem to have any unfinished business of his own.

Million Dollar Calendar

January 14, 2005
Editor: While I do realize that we live in Utah, I would like everyone else to stop for a moment and realize that the students we are talking about are ADULTS. This is not a concern over grade school children, or even secondary school children who are currently facing what seems to be a monthly threat of someone being caught with supplies in their possession to cause some harm to their friends, parents, or school.

Keeping the freshmen around

November 22, 2004
Sophomore Nicole Schaus had no idea that attending a concert at Libby Gardner Hall in 2003 would be so important as to grant her a reward. Schaus won two tickets to the game of the decade against BYU, and relaxed in one of the better seats in Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Really Getting Straight on Gay Marriage

By By [email protected] April 9, 2004

By [email protected] Adam Benson's article "Getting Straight on Gay Marriage," I think he did not get it straight. He wrote, "Since the Massachusetts Supreme Court's Feb. 4 ruling that gay marriage...
