All signs pointed toward U athletics director Chris Hill hiring Nevada head coach Trent Johnson as head basketball coach. But it didn't happen. Johnson decided to extend his contract at Nevada for another five years, and Hill decided to hire Eastern Washington coach Ray Giacoletti as the head coach of the team.

Utes take care of business against Aggies, 4-2

In its first game of the season at Ute field, the U softball team came through with a 4-2 win in a close battle against Utah State. Although the Aggies came into the match only having won three games on the year, it was no surprise to U coach Mona Stevens that the match was close and went down to the wire.

Big bugs living in Red Butte Garden

Red Butte Garden will literally have big bugs in its gardens this spring. Wood bugs the size of cars are being displayed throughout Red Butte Garden as a part of David Rogers' Big Bug show, which will run until June 27. The show is kicking off the 11th season of Rogers' exhibits and marks the second time the U has displayed his work.

The immediate tasks at hand for novices Alex Lowe, president-elect, Bobby Harrington, vice president elect, and Sara Hogan, senior class president-elect, are to decide on the structure of the future administration's Executive Cabinet and to balance the projected $1.
