Law-school workshop emphasizes need to budget

The S.J. Quinney College of Law held its annual financial-aid workshop Nov. 1 to answer students' questions about financing three years of law school. As the next LSAT-the law school entrance exam-in December quickly approaches, many prospective law students are thinking about applications, letters of recommendation and how to pay once they get accepted into a school, said Reyes Aguilar, associate dean for financial aid.

Gov. names U professor poet laureate

Katharine Coles, U associate professor of English, was appointed Utah's new poet laureate by Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. on Friday. Coles, who also serves as the English department's director of creative writing, has published two novels and three collections of poetry, and her works have appeared in numerous anthologies and periodicals.

LBGT Resource Center coordinator resigns

Charles Milne, coordinator of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center, is officially resigning on Nov. 3 to seek a new career in event planning and management. Milne's resignation comes 15 days after his immediate supervisor, Karen Dace, announced her resignation from her position as associate vice president for diversity.
